04-15--> Dave and Danielle thanks to the Mathes family for the donation

8-11 Getting better every day here's a picture of him dancing at a wedding reception. He has been riding a little and looking pretty good

if you come to see him it takes him 5 min or so to put names to faces.  They still have not reduced his med's.

has birthday coming up the 24th. he will be 23

6-8 Dave looked and sounded good today. they changed his surgery date to 6-11 will be installing the plate in his head. They say it helps alot in their recovery

6-19 saw him Saturday and Monday seems to be getting better all the time with speech short term memory seems too be lacking still. Talk to doctor today about talking him off some meds. Going Thursday the 22nd to talk to surgeon about plugging the hole in his head. more later. putting plate in 6-5
5-10 they are transferring Dave to a long term rehab center doesn't mean he is going to be there a long time because he is worst. it is in MT.. Vernon 600 n. main rm 627, 65712 web www.mrc-rehab.org  417-466-5211 on  Monday the reason I gathered is because he needs attention they cant give him like a psychology to monitor his medicine because he doesn't react to the normal meds in general and needs speech therapy they don't provide. its between Joplin and Springfield which means longer drive for me about 2hrs. anyone in that area that wants to visit him it would sure be appreciated

4-21 Karen Gerbes was by to see Dave same thing to their son Joey 6 years ago at finger lakes.

Some improvement I think he walked well I pinched his shirt and he walked to the bath room pretty much by his self

he wasn't talking near as crazy but did me ask me 4 time what place he got and said lets go get some money. if he remembers the

crash he isn't saying. coarse he gets bull headed that way when he hurts. we went out in the hall way in his wheel chairs

and he shock hands with all the other patients, they kinda congregate by the nurses station

4-18 had him on some stiff sedatives because he is aggravated I'm thinking from being in his little tent bed which suppose to be

designs to keep patients from getting up on there own. they stated they started to have one on one attendant

because he has figured how to get out (no shit) and he has fell and I assume hit his head

again because they gave him another ct scan. I'm thinking if he gets more visitors maybe they will quit juicing him up. If any one goes to visit

make him walk a little he needs some help to steady him and remind to take a big step with that right foot. I think he is further along than

then give him credit for and are not working him enough in his physical therapy they told me he walked 40' with walker a whole 40? he

was doing that last Friday so the more we spend time with the better. Jake, nate and the kellar family were there tonight and Michael web earlier.

4-17 he looked like he was hurting yesterday and said he wanted to go home. was not talking/making sense very well. Shorty, Linda and Jordan Robbins came to visit. it was good to see them and that seemed to lift his spirits some. Rusk will evaluate him today and tell me a attentive release date.
the Kelly's have told me the wrist bands are in and I cant thank them enough for their concerns for us.

I want to take minute to tell you how much it means to me when you all (bike and quad riders) came together

to David and I your thoughts and prayers are magic to his recovery and gives me strength to cope. I thought the 1st day

when he was life flighted after I found him laying unconscious not breathing and blue ....my god

what have a I done to my child? did I tell him I loved him when I had the last chance?  Now I think if it wasn't for moto cross

dirt bike and quads we would have not of been as close and it brought all of my family closer to together and it will yours to!

4-6-1008  Jessica birthday today (daves oldest sister)

We had radio on this mornin

and he said in a very low voice "turn alarm off". I made him repeat it 4 times before I heard him. some good progress every day. yesterday he eat by himself and the entire nurse staff in icu came to watch. apparently they don't see to many good out comes. Id rather not be the one to entertain no what I mean? hospital website is www.trinitymedicalonline.com

Those that don't know my son David had a bad crash during practice at the mill creek

national missed a triple bailed off and hit his I couldn't see how he landed but I'm thinking

the quad caught the top of jump with the back wheels and bounced up as Dave was falling down
the visor was torn off and lens popped out of his goggles the back of his helmet has a softball scrape

in the paint and a 4" crack. I ran to him to find him blue by the time I got his helmet off he was breathing

on his own but unconscious emt Larry , who by the way has called 3 time a day to check on him, gave him o2

and made the call he had a head trauma and order a life flight to trinity hospital Birmingham, al

who I later found to be one of the leading neural hospitals after 2nd day of observation notice drop of lh arm

movement and decided at that time to remove from skull above left ear to relieve pressure as not to cause any

damage as the Bruising and swelling had not peaked yet. He now has movement and in good stable condition

with promising out come. on the down side they will have to do more surgery 3 to 6 month to replace plate and

no idea how long recovery will be. BIG THANKS TO THOSE WHO called with there regards

the numbers are staggering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! including the ATVA staff and mills creek mx crew

I will do my best to keep every one updated
